The other day, a coworker came to his manager and said he had to leave that there'd been an incident at daycare. His manager sits right behind me, so eavesdropping is basically unconscious on my part.
Fortunately, he was at his desk the next day and I inquired about his daughter. She'd been pushed on the slide, but she's okay. And thank you for asking. He thanked me a couple times. It hadn't occurred to me that he'd feel gratitude, but it made me feel like I was a good person.
And I'm relieved his daughter is fine.
