The article is specifically for daughters, but I don't know why the same thing wouldn't apply to sons. I think this is something my parents did, but I also wonder how much of it came from me, naturally. My child, at 3 years old, is seeking praise for the stuff she does, and if we find a gap, we work on it together and then she wants praise for figuring it out. For example, we were writing numbers and she had a hard time writing the number 2, until she didn't anymore! Did we push her or did she insist on it? Hard to know, really.
